Linking up with Wordless Wednesday, Catsynth, Keith, and Sandee at Comedy Plus.

Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and has become a moveable feast of word or picture or music prompts to encourage us to write stories, poems, or whatever strikes our fancy.
While Elephant's Child takes a blog break, lissa is providing the prompts on her blog.
This week's prompts are
premonition
onion
temperature
seventy
weirdo
Charlotte (MotherOwl) has selected Glass Elephant Blue as the colour of the month.
My little sister Esme came in as I was chopping an ONION to put in the fry pan and said, "I have a PREMONITION the TEMPERATURE today is going to get up to SEVENTY."
Esme is always having "premonitions" of things after they've happened. It was obvious by the Glass Elephant Blue sky shining through the kitchen windows the day had already warmed up, although it wasn't going to be too hot.
"It's easy enough to know it when the thermometer is on the wall where you can see it when you walk in the kitchen," I smiled at her. She's ten years younger, and sometimes I call her the nickname, "Wacky, Wonderful Weirdo." I've called her that to make her laugh since she was a baby, and she knows it's meant in fun.
I also knew where this was heading. She wanted to be taken to the woods to look for mushrooms, as she wasn't allowed to go by herself quite yet. Esme knows I don't like going out for a long time if it's too chilly.
"Well, then, I was right," Esme said and I laughed.
"Yes, you are right, and it's also just the right kind of day to go mushroom hunting," I told her.
"Really?" she squealed.
"Really," I said. "Just let me finish this while you go get the baskets and make sure they are clean."
She scampered off, happy as a lark, and I just shook my head and turned off the stove. It looked like we'd have fried mushrooms with those onions.

I read your story of such a nice and cozy day. I like it, only regretting having read it before I wrote my own story. But it was good! Thanks
