Lake Me Own (Six Sentence Story) and Good Fences

(Because some people like Blogger and some like WordPress, i am putting the same content at both.  If you would prefer to read this on the other site, it is linked here.)

It wasn't much to look at yet, but it was his.

Just the ramshackle shed, the pier that looked like it would collapse if anyone were so foolish as to try to take a fishing pole out on it, and the fencing surrounding the acres were the only structures to be seen.

The house was yet a dream, the driveway only mud, his ideas for a workshop and barn still ideas.

Even so, he very carefully erected the sign over the drive gate, the one he'd made at his workshop back at their city house.

"Lake Me Own" it read, and it was, his own land, his own lake, his own dreams.

Not much to look at yet, but it was the place where he was going to make his dreams come true.

Linking up with Denise at Girlie On The Edge Blog, where she hosts Six Sentence Stories, and the cue is Place.

(Grandma's father did build his dream on the very big pond/very small lake that he called Lake Me Own.)

Gosia, of Looking for Identity, has taken over Good Fences, and it's now Good Fences Around The World.  Post a picture of a fence or gate, link back to her blog, and go visit other blogs to see what interesting fences there are out in this big world.

One day a couple of weeks ago, when i was with Dr. D and she was driving, i managed to get a couple of fence pictures i'd always wanted to take but never can when i'm behind the wheel.  Here's one:
