Step By Step (Six Sentence Story) and Good Fences

(Because some people like Blogger and some like WordPress, i am putting the same content at both.  If you would prefer to read this on the other site, it is linked here.)

She hadn't envisioned a stable, or becoming a farmer's wife one step at a time.

The garden, chicken coop and yard, yes, she'd even grown rather fond of the chickens, feeding them and gathering fresh eggs.  The "shop" where he tried and mostly failed to restore the old car, sure, as she knew it kept him busy and happy and someday the car would probably take shape in spite of his mishaps.

But a stable, that was outside of what she'd thought they would ever do with the property, as much as she'd been the typical little girl who wanted a horse back in the day.

Now he and the neighbors were planning a barn raising, and he was talking about rescuing a horse, maybe getting a couple of dairy goats -- she looked at the back acres and sighed.

Every one of his schemes had worked out to this point, no matter how far-fetched, so she tried to get used to the idea that she was going to have hoof-stock now, and would have to figure out how to properly fence in the veggie garden.

Linking up with Denise at Girlie On The Edge Blog, where she hosts Six Sentence Stories, and the cue is Stable.

Gosia, of Looking for Identity, has taken over Good Fences, and it's now Good Fences Around The World.  Post a picture of a fence or gate, link back to her blog, and go visit other blogs to see what interesting fences there are out in this big world.

If someone leaves the gate open, sometimes you can see the nice fences in the yard:

Please excuse the raindrops on the window, it's the only time this gate has been open as i've passed it, and i never claimed to be a great photographer.

  1. One step at a time is probably a good way to step into the unknown (and it sounds as if being a farmer's wife is definitely that).

  2. Mimi,

Every day is a 'one step at a time' I've learned to getting where I want to be someday and still not there yet...but one day I will be. :) The raindrops just add to the picture. I always wonder who lives behind gated driveways. That sounds nice as long as I can press button from inside my car to open the gate. I don't care for those that have a securty keypad to enter a code. You never know who's waiting for you outside in the dark. Of course, I'll never have to worry about this since we can't afford it anyhow. lol
