Curiosity (Awww Monday), Inspiring Quote of the Week, and Summer Fun (Poetry Monday)

(Because some people like Blogger and some like WordPress, i am putting the same content at both.  If you would prefer to read this on the other site, it is linked here.)

Awww Monday is hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus.

Join us every Monday for Awww...Mondays.  Post a picture that makes you say Awww... and that's it.

Make sure you get the code from Sandee's site, linked above, and leave a link to your post so we can visit you.  What better way to start the week than with a smile!

This little one was curious enough to want to sniff at her sister, but not quite curious enough to move out of her hammock:

Sparks, the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, is on hiatus, so here's an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border.  She was unable to post for a while, so participants Delores and Jenny took turns providing a theme each week.  Now that Diane is back, they are all taking turns.  This week's theme is Summer  Fun.

The sun was hot but the pool was cool,
We stayed in it from dawn until dark.
We only hopped out when nature called,
Or for meals, it was all such a lark.

Our skin would get shriveled and raisin-like,
And what didn't shrivel up would get tan,
Unless you were one of our really fair friends,
Then you'd look like a lobster -- oh man!

We had a neat slide and a diving board,
We invented new games each day,
There were always at least a dozen of us,
Everyone wanted to play.

"Those were the days, my friend, We thought they'd never end,"
Says a song, and it really is true.
Each summer day was so much fun,
I'd go back in a heartbeat -- would you?

  1. Oh, what a poem. For me it was the beach, but go back? Oh yes I would. I don't see my children having so much fun as we had, and I pity them.

  5. VJ Day - unless you're from RI, in which case you commemorated it 2 weeks ago. Kinda like Independence Day, which is May 4th, not July 4th.
    We're just trend-setters.
    ;-p

  11. I'd go back to my childhood for a visit! I think that's why I like pictures from my childhood so much; I feel I can almost re-enter it for a brief time. I can remember when most of the pictures were taken (people didn't take so many photos then, of course) and I can "feel" I'm back there.

Love the kitten pictures that you post. They are always good for a big "awwww" :)

  19. Mimi,

I hope y'all are doing okay despite Dorain's rage. I love your poem and there are days that I'd love to go back in time to simplier times once again if only for a few minutes. Great sparks of inspiration. We all need to hold this one close. Thanks for sharing a dance with me and I hope y'all had a lovely Labor Day weekend. Have a boogietastic week, my dear!
