They’ve Got Your Number (Cajun Joke) and Signs of the Season (Sunday Selections)

***********************************

Just because Sandee of Comedy Plus is no longer hosting a Silly Sunday blog hop, do not expect me to quit telling Cajun jokes, especially as it has now become a habit.

Yesterday i was finally able to get in touch with the caregiver of my Angel Tree child.  (With Angel Tree, you pick the name of a child whose parent is incarcerated, and give the child a gift from the parent.  It keeps the parent/child bond for the children to know their parents love them and want them to have a nice holiday.)

Sometimes getting in touch with the child’s guardian is not easy, as so many people will not answer a phone number they do not know.  It can take texting and leaving lots of messages before they believe you really do just want to give the child a gift from the parent, no cost involved to them.  This one was easy, the grandmother answered on the second ring and remembered that someone brought the child a gift last year.

Boudreaux an’ Clothile an’ Aline be talkin’ ‘bout what dey do when dey see it be a call on dey phone an’ dey don’ know de number.

Aline say, “If’n it be a number not on my phone, I jes’ don’ answer.”

Clothile say, “If’n it be a number not on my phone, I answer an’ ax dem if dey know Jesus as dey Savior, an’ dey hang up on me.”

Den Boudreaux say, “If’n it be a number not on my phone, I answer an’ tell dem I t’ink dey be goin’ to hell, an’ dey hang up on me befo’ I can tell dem how not to go dere!”

Sunday Selections was started as a way for bloggers to use photos that might otherwise just languish in their files.  The rules have been relaxed, and it is now simply a showcase for your photos, new or old, good or bad, although nothing rude, please.  It is now hosted by Elephant's Child.

Some pictures of the season, as Christmas stuff seems to be coming out of hiding (some homes more than others):

  1. LOVE the Angel Tree initiative.
Any of those houses is showing rather more Christmas Spirit than ours.

  2. Those are nice Christmas things and I'm glad you are helping an Angel. We don't answer numbers we don't know either so we could miss a call from Santa since he really isn't in our contact list.

  3. Ah, you have reminded me to get my wreath from out of the box and upstairs!!

  4. Those poinsettia wreaths are so pretty. They're not known here, I''d like to import this instead of Santas and elfs.

  7. These days I never answer a number I do not know. When you do it only encourages more bogus calls.

Nice thing with the present to a child whose parent is not around. You are always be doing for others!

  8. I too don't answer any calls from unknown number. A great idea to ask them if they know Jesus Christ if ever I answered an unknown number. Beautiful selection of Christmas decoration items. Very thoughtful way to present a gift to a child who couldn't be with their parents.
