Dance Fever, New Client, and Guessing, a Random and Happy Tuesday Post

***********************************

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.

When i walked in yesterday morning, Carl was in his silk jammies, grooving in front of his TV.  He had an exercise something or other on, and he was following the dancers and singing quietly to himself.  One thing he loves to do is dance, and he really misses his Jazzercise class.  (For any who don't know, picture an almost 40-year-old special needs adult with a slight paunch and a bald spot from where he nervously pulls at his hair trying to imitate modern hip-hop dancers, and you  have it.)

The kitchen counter before Carl has breakfast:

The kitchen counter after Carl has breakfast:

Yesterday, he went back and had more breakfast twice before we could get him out the door to work.  As his mom Ms. V says, it's a good thing he has a job, he loves to eat so much he'd be a blimp if he didn't.

Yesterday was also my first day with a new client, Ms. PA, and her husband, Mr. John.  He is 94 and has some dementia, so he followed me around a couple of times, telling me things that didn't quite make any sense.  My response was to simply say, how interesting! or, you don't say! and he seemed quite satisfied.  Sometimes he's more there than other times, but it's okay.

When he is actually remembering things, he tells war stories, and about growing up before that, Greatest Generation stories that i'm going to try to remember to write here.  They were both talking yesterday about when they bought the house sixty-seven years ago, about six months before their son was born.

Ms. PA is 91 and said she just can't push the big vacuum any more, or get on the floor to dust the table and chair legs.  Their son also doesn't want her on the ladder trying to dust the knickknacks on the bookshelves.  As i told her, that's what i am there for.

They have a cat adopted from our shelter several years ago, Li'l Bit.  That queen bee rules the roost, i tell you.  They will be a joy to work with, i believe.

Okay, time for some of the things Grandma passes on.  First, see if you can guess what these are:

Can you guess?

How about, Eggplant, Dr. Pepper, a Pool Table, and Tap Dancers!

Now a couple to make you giggle:

Hope you have a blessed and beautiful Tuesday!

  17. Mimi,

Oh yes do jot down the stories from the old gentleman! They'll be great treasures to read, especially for his son or grandkids. The photo play on words were funtastic. I figured out the first one easily but the rest I think went over my head. I don't think my coffee is working. Your last funny about prayer made me smile. I'll have to remember this if ever we get a huge piece of land and I need to keep unwanted folks off my property. lol I would absolutely die if I got a fortune that read "That wasn't chicken". Gasp! Thanks for the giggles. ;)
