Time to Change the Station (Six Sentence Story), Neighbor's Fence (Good Fences), Sit a While With Me (Sammy's Poetry Day), and Work Blessings (Brian's Thankful Thursday)

***********************************

"What is my station in life?" was the thought that bubbled up to her as she woke, shaking her head and trying to clear out the images of trains and the trips she took with her Grandmother when she was very young.

The sudden sounding of her alarm caused her eyes to snap fully open, and she once again realized that the only reason she didn't keep a hammer nearby to smash the alarm was because it was also her phone and she wasn't made of money.

That thought, as she silenced the dratted thing (and debated whether to dismiss the upcoming back-up alarm set in 15 minutes, always there just to make sure), brought back the thoughts about where she was in life compared to where she wanted to be.

A soulless drone in a cubicle in corporate life was what she answered herself, the unspoken question of every day for her was when it would all change, something she tried to push to the back of her brain but this day simply could not.

Today, she thought, today is the day I rise up and do something about it, if not for my sake, for Grandmother, who was the only person who ever believed in me.

Rolling out of bed instead of grabbing those few extra minutes the back-up alarm promised, she grabbed the thumb drive from the drawer in the nightstand, determined to spend the next hour of getting ready for work rereading the stories she'd written, stories her Grandmother told her, stories she promised herself would be published -- today, she would start to edit, no matter what the boss said.

Linking up with Denise at Girlie On The Edge Blog, where she hosts Six Sentence Stories, and the cue is Station.

Gosia at Looking for Identity has taken over Good Fences, and it's now Good Fences Around The World.  Post a picture of a fence or gate, link back to her blog, and go visit other blogs to see what interesting fences there are out in this big world.

This is simply a neighbor up the street's fence and gate that i happen to like:

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day!  This week's image and my poem:

Where two or three have gathered,
He has promised there to be.
So why don't you come over
And sit a while with me?

Our assembly may be small, it's true,
But don't dismiss the size,
For each true prayer is precious
In our Father's eyes.

We can read the Book where He has
Written of His deep love,
And pray that He will send us
That peace from up above.

Perhaps we'll ope' the hymnbook,
And of His graces sing,
We'll usher in the dawning,
And make the rafters ring.

Gather up your prayer needs,
Come over and you will see,
You will leave this place refreshed of soul
If you sit a while with me.

(Addendum, if you are a praying person, please pray for a former employee of the cat shelter, Ms. A.  She is in her early 30's, with a seven-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter, and her husband/their dad was killed in an auto accident the other day.  Thank you in advance for any good thoughts and prayers sent their way.)
