Now That's a Lamp With Bling (Wordless Wednesday) and Words for Wednesday

 ***********************************

Linking up with Wordless Wednesday and Sandee at Comedy Plus.

***********************************

Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and has become a moveable feast of word or picture or music prompts to encourage us to write stories, poems, or whatever strikes our fancy.

This month, the prompts are being provided by Cindi and posted on her page Of Dandelions and Sunshine.

The Challenge:  They say a picture is worth 1,000 words.  Write at least 100 words about the image below.

The park was where we would go when the yelling got too loud.  They weren't paying any attention to us, so we'd put on our shoes, and sometimes jackets if it was cold and we had them, and quietly leave.

It was peaceful there, so we'd hold hands and walk.  We didn't have to say anything, and before it got too dark, we'd go back, and mostly they never even realized we left.

I remember one time in particular, on the way back I said, "Promise me we won't grow up to yell like this," and we both promised.

We kept it, too.

  6. Mimi,

Your story is sweet and sad. Adults don't realize the impact their heated, loud words have on kids. I'm happy that we never had such moments while we raised our family and we still don't. We might disagree but we keep our voices in check...most of the time. :)
