Oink (Six Sentence Story), Good Fences, Sammy's Poetry Day, and Brian's Thankful Thursday

***********************************

"You have all the blanket!" he said, yanking his hardest so he could turn over and pull more of the covers over him.

On my side, the bare edge of the blanket was under me as i hung on for dear life.

He continued to fuss and yank, so i got up, went around to his side of the bed and pulled the blanket up off the floor -- here's all the blanket, i don't have it, you do! i'd tell him.

The blanket restored to the bed, i'd again roll onto the edge, making sure it was tight under me, as he was just going to start yanking again soon, the blanket mostly ending up on the floor on his side of the bed.

Very soon, we switched to two blankets on the bed, one for each of us, and while he then had to haul his own back onto the bed, at least he wasn't waking me over it.

Yes, Sweetie is a blanket hog.

While Good Fences Around the World seems to have gone the way of the dodo bird, i still enjoy looking for and posting interesting fences, so i will!

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day!  This week's image and my poem:

Hey, Little Buddy, are we ready to go?

Dressed this way we'll steal the show.

You're my best friend as any can see,

It's me for you and you for me!

  3. We dogs take up a lot of space on the bed, but at least we don't steal the blankets. Mom gets the blankets plus cozy warm pups on either side of her. Glad you found a solution to your blanket issues.

  8. Luna is the blanket (or rather, duvet) hog in our family! It's hard to credit how one small cat can tuck so much quilt under her.

  9. Separate blankets, what a good idea! I just love that poem and that photo, it made me smile.

  13. That story sounds so much like my hubby and I. He is a blanket hog too. I need to switch to 2 blankets. Cute poem. :)

  14. Your 5 sentence story made me laugh! So much like my hubby was. And I LOVE your poem! It is priceless! We hope you have a marvellously happy day.

  15. Ha! Classic. The true blanket hog always accuses the shivering victim of being the perpetrator. A good solution, two blankets are better than one.

  16. 'Yes, Sweetie is a blanket hog.'
    What a glorious line!
I was thinking the other day about 'And they both lived happily ever after.' As we say in Glasgow, 'Aye, right' - meaning 'no way'!
But your story - oh how I recognise that scenario! - shows how love endures. Sweetie is still Sweetie, even if Sweetie is also a blanket hog!

  17. I love that sweet boy/dog matching shirts image and your poem.

  18. I think that you found the perfect solution! It is either that or buy a blanket a size larger than the size of the bed, unless the bed is a King Size, and then two blankets is the only way.
It seems this is a universal situation with the tugging of the blankets.

  19. Most annoying, waking up and the blanket's gone, lol. 2 blanket solution - good one!
Image and poem, I've got one word..."aww" :)
