Just Good Stuff (Ten Things of Thankful)

(Because some people like Blogger and some like WordPress, i am putting the same content at both.  If you would prefer to read this on the other site, it is linked here.)

Oh, friends, it's shaping up to be a December to remember, and so much for which to be thankful.

First, i've had to turn work down because i am already often doing 2-4 jobs a day on some days.

My schedule has needed tweaking to work as much in as possible, i am so grateful to be this busy and have a bit extra.

Mr. BA, instead of paying me each time i work, asks me to keep up with my hours and he pays me when i hit anywhere from 30-40 hours.  Today is payday, and i should earn enough to get all of the gifts i will need for the holidays!

The shelter is doing well, plenty of adoptions and while i was there last night, two people came in just to drop off donation checks.

The Big Boss gave us a poinsettia the size of a small moose, as well as grapefruit and apples.  The grapefruit is so good, and we are still not quite sure what to do with that huge plant now sitting on our porch (we are thinking of sneaking it into the church prayer room to brighten it up a bit, the cats here would try to eat it).

A dear friend suffered a serious fall the other day, and has only minor injuries to show for it, we are all very relieved and thankful.

Dr. D got to her appointment in Houston and back, and her kitties survived my caretaking and even enjoyed my giving them treats.

Ms. J had her party and it went well, then her husband had his medical procedure for his back the morning after.  She has survived to tell about it, and i am very glad.

Also, while doing a load of laundry cleaning up after the party, i noted that her dryer is not working well at all.  One thing i am thankful for quite often is knowing a good repair person, and we have one at prayer group.  Plus i am thankful she took me seriously when i told her it could be lint build up in the vent and to get it looked at before there is a fire.

Grandma's housekeeper seems to be back, at least for now.  This means i don't have to go to NOLA over the weekend for the first time since the beginning of October, thus an afternoon off!

Lots of good going on, and i am especially enjoying the Christmas trees and decorations all over.

Please join us and our gracious and wonderful hostess Kristi from ThankfulMe, write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful.

  4. Pretend to Be a Time Traveler reminded me of my absolute favorite part from The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - the little guy who has made it his life's mission to insult everyone in the universe... in alphabetical order. So he periodically appears in a scene, dashes up to someone, confirms their name, lambasts them with an insult, then dashes back to his spaceship...
Man, I'd kill for that job! ;-D

  7. I'm glad you have lots of work and are able to manage having a good Christmas. I can remember some very lean Christmases because there wasn't enough money. We just loved each other a bit more and it all worked out.

I'm glad that fall didn't amount to a lot of injury. Sometimes it works that way.

I'm glad you didn't have to go to grandmas house to work. Enjoy your afternoon off.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, my friend. ♥

  8. You know Mimi, This blog is one of your blogs that I love the most. They are all wonderful but this one is the best. Each day I try to find something to be thankful for. Usually I can find more than one. I also thank the fact that found your blog. I'm not sure how I found yours but I'm so happy that I did. Have a great day my good friend. See ya.

  10. That is a wonderful list. I am glad you are getting plenty of hours to get all your gifts purchased. Good idea to get rid of the poinsettia as they are poisonous to cats.
