Seeing Double (Six Sentence Story), Just One More (Good Fences), A Merry Day (Sammy's Poetry Day), and Brian's Thankful Thursday

"It's been quite a Christmas," she said, smiling as she sat on the couch.

"Yes, it has," he noted, taking a seat next to her.

"That was quite a compromise we came up with for the tree," he added, looking at the corner she had called Christmas Cheer Central, and she laughed.

"Well, when you first get married you have to compromise to come up with your own traditions.  After all, you are blending two different backgrounds into one new family."

"I'm still thrilled with the idea of two small trees instead of one big one," he said, "a Douglas fir for your side of the family, and a Scotch pine for mine!"

Linking up with Denise at Girlie On The Edge Blog, where she hosts Six Sentence Stories, and the cue is Pine.

Gosia at Looking for Identity has taken over Good Fences, and it's now Good Fences Around The World.  Post a picture of a fence or gate, link back to her blog, and go visit other blogs to see what interesting fences there are out in this big world.

Just one more Christmas fence, since it is still the 12 Days of Christmas:

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day!  This week's image and my poem:

Have all the good rhymes been taken
About winter wonderlands?
No, there's room for plenty of them
For anyone who understands
That there is something magical
About a horse-drawn sleigh,
And driving through the forest winter
On such a merry day!

  2. Two smaller trees, what a great idea. As long as there is room for them.
The Christmas fence is quietly festive, rather than flashy and overdone. Nice.

  4. The thought of "Are there any rhymes/poems left to write?" goes through my mind all the time. lol
I mean I literally lay awake at night composing. And I used to jump out of bed to quickly write something down.

    I'm no longer jumpin'
But as long as heart's pumpin'
    Rhymes I won't be dumpin'
    Pa rum pum pum pum

  10. It sounded like a movie I saw about two familys called the Pines and Spruces that sold Christmas trees and they fought for years but at the end of the story they eventually got together. I loved the story. Have a great day Mimi.
