Even Dr. D Is Adapting and Funnies We Need, a Random and Happy Tuesday Post

***********************************

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus

A friend of mine told me that, just at the start of WWII, her grandmother went to the PX (military base store) for the first time as a new bride and bought, among other things, flour.  She brought it home and found weevils in it.

Bringing it back to the PX, she explained the situation and was handed the bag back with the comment, “Sift it, lady, there’s a war on!”

A couple of weeks ago, i told that story to Dr. D, and as i handed her a few things from the store that were not exactly the kind or type she was used to, said, “Take it, lady, there’s a pandemic on!”

She got the picture and has been willing to go with most substitutions.  The one or two things she really is holding out for are things she is willing to wait on.

Yesterday i was able to get her some cheap toilet paper.  Score!  It wasn’t the dollar store kind, it was an inexpensive brand from another store.  Her comment was, “At least it’s not the Sears Catalog, or a corn cob!”  Yes, she is coming around.

She is also behaving and staying home, only leaving to go to her water physical therapy, where they assure her the chlorine in the water kills pretty much everything.

Now, for the laughs we all need:

Have a blessed and beautiful Tuesday everyone.  Stay Safe!

  1. thanks for the funnies.
I am glad that Dr D is coming round. Toilet paper is still rarer than hen's teeth here. Another blog I read posted the latest pickup line 'I have toilet paper'.

  2. Oh that toilet paper craze ;) This pandemic should be remembered as the "Toilet paper hoarding pandemic".
    Stay safe and save paper.

  9. You have to go with the flow with substitutions. Our stores are pretty bare here too. Amazing. I'm glad Dr. D. is going with the flow. I find it amazing too.

Love all the funnies, especially the first one. Subway ride right there in the bathroom. I spewed my coffee.

  14. I LOVE your funnies! Thank you so much.

I wouldn't mind substitutions but I have to be careful with ingredients due to food intolerances, so that makes it harder. But as for taste or feel alone, we all have to suck it up!

  18. Mimi,

Laughter is an essential medicine for these times. The 'Lionel Richie Hello' meme made me smile. :D DH started working from home yesterday for the next couple of weeks. I sure hope the 'Safer at Home' order helps to squash this virus. Have a good day and be well, my friend. Thanks for the giggles and story. ;)
