On The Way Home, a Random and Happy Word Counters Post

***********************************

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus

Part of today’s post is also a writing challenge. This is how it works: one of the contributing bloggers picked a number between 12 and 74. The submitted number is a challenge to participating bloggers to write at least one piece using that exact number of words.

This month, the word count number is: 33

It was submitted by:  Karen at Baking In A Tornado

On the Border

Bigger Girl is on her way home from California for Christmas.  She and her friend Frieda are catching a ride with Tasha.  Tasha has driven across the country, camping at parks, several times.

She has been sending me texts, and the occasional email.  "Hey, mom, in a few days Tasha and Frieda and I will be driving home for Christmas.  It's safer than flying, Covid-wise."

"Also, we'll get tested before we go, and then mostly stop at campgrounds along the way.  We're stopping at the Grand Canyon.  I'll send pictures!  Don't tell Grandpa, though, he'll be worried sick."

A few days later, "About to leave for Nevada.  Gonna be staying in Creepy Clown Motel, next to an abandoned cemetery.  Will take pictures!"  My response was, "Why does this not surprise me?"

The latest was this email, "Hey mom, didn't know if you got my text. My phone screen is broken and won't come on, so I sent you a text from a friend's phone."

No, i had not received the text.  She continued, "Please let Grandpa know that I am currently out of contact but alright."  This means another phone bites the dust; it lasted 4 months.

And now for some of the stuff Grandma sends me:

Have a blessed and beautiful Tuesday, everyone!

  3. You always have a bit of drama. And your Bigger Girl's trouble is the reason I do not have a smartphone, but make do with a dumbphone - they just last longer ;)
    Thanks for the funnies.

  4. Thank Grandma. Again.
Does it count if I have the same thought 12,000 times?
I hope Bigger Girl stays safe. And that her phone can be fixed.

  6. LOL, Frosty is so funny. Love those tulips in the snow. Good funnies as always. Bummer with the phone. Maybe if she has to pay for new phones herself she will be more careful, or get her a basic old style flip phone since they are more durable, that may also show her to take better care of the good expensive ones. Hope she is home safe soon.

  16. I didn't have a lot of thoughts today, just one, repeated over and over and over again: "No, you can't hit them..."
