Worth the Wait

"Hunga, you have more energy than a 220 socket!" Mimi said with a laugh as the pooch stood by where his leash hung, whining and looking at her with hope-filled eyes.

"Tell you what," she continued, "if you'll let me finish getting these veggies chopped, I'll take us to the off-leash park so you can have a good run, okay?  Maybe one of your doggie buddies will be there, too, we'll see."

Recognizing the tone of promise in her voice and the words "park" and "off-leash run," as well as knowing that such an adventure always ended with a visit to the bakery that made dog treats, too, he settled down for a snooze.

He knew it wouldn't be long, and it would be worth the wait.
