Vault of the Heavens (Six Sentence Story), Good Fences, Sammy's Poetry Day and Brian's Thankful Thursday

The weather prediction was for storms, and storms there were.  It made me glad Sweetie and i had put the garbage cans in the storage room and brought our porch chairs in.

Ms. G and i were able to get all the outdoor work and errands done, just in time.

Once the vault of the heavens opened up, there was standing water in the streets in no time and she and i were just getting the groceries into the house when lightning struck close enough for us to feel the concussion from the thunder immediately.

It came down, and then stopped rather quickly, then went in fits and starts over the next few hours while areas not far from us got tornado warnings and we were told to watch for flash floods.

All of us were thankful for the beauty of the sunset, the red at night bringing us delight in knowing we'd have cooler and clear weather the next morning.

Linking up with Denise at Girlie On The Edge Blog, where she hosts Six Sentence Stories, and the cue is Vault.

While Good Fences Around the World seems to have gone the way of the dodo bird, i still enjoy looking for and posting interesting fences, so i will!

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day This week's image and my poems:

I'm just about done

retying my shoe

then I will turn

and claim little you.

This isn't the ride

I thought we were taking,

there's no wings on this thing,

a mistake we are making!

Brian of Brian's Home hosts the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.   It's time to share something for which i am thankful.

  1. I like the white picket fences and the baby in the tub is cute.

  2. I do hope the red sky at night forecast is accurate.

  3. Thank you for the beautifully decorated fences.

    God bless.

  4. Pretty fence and cute baby in the tub. Glad that the storm didn't do much damage. Thunder is rumbling outside now and expecting rain anytime now.

  5. A perfect six and the picture poems gave me my biggest grin of the day!

  6. Oh that sunset photo is beautiful. Thanks for all the fun stuff today, the fences (love those white picket fences) and the poems and the facts. Learn something new every day!

  7. Hubby said your friend Mimi is having some storms. He knows you and Mr. Sweetie almost as much as I do. I'm glad all is well and I'm thankful that you have a ride to work. Bless Mrs. G.

    Love that beautiful sunset.

Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday, my friend. Big hug to you and Mr. Sweetie from Zane and I. ♥

  8. I loved the vault of the heavens idea but there were so many tornadoes in the states. At this time of the year, I can't believe it.
Also I laughed of the picture of the baby while the mother was putting her shoes on. Loved it.

    Have a wonderful day Mimi.

    Cruisin Paul

  9. Lemon Cupcake day! I gotta get me one of those! And your poem was terrific as are the photos of the fences and the Sky shot! Wraps up the story purrfectly! People who help others ROCK! Ms G is wonderful! Keep being awesome!

  10. Mimi, you said "sometimes only the best will do"...what better than sharing after the rainfall
such a sunset with tour loved ones?

  11. If your six wasn't a true story it sure felt like it. I know the weather has wreaked havoc lately and I feel for those effected.
    Be well and happy holidays.

  12. Glad to hear it was no worse than that. Keep seeing the storms and worse on the news, not good! Prayers for you!
Also, cat herding is relatively easy. Large batch of kittens, one big pan of smelly gooshy food, they will follow you everywhere! ;)

  13. Glad you survived the storm and do hope Santa brings you a brand new ~ dependable auto ~ Great stories and photos ~ Xo

Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,
    A ShutterBug Explores,
    aka (A Creative Harbor)

  14. That is a pretty scary story, lightning up close isn't a fun thing. Those are cute poems and a really nice thankful. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  15. Cute poem. Glad you stayed safe from the storm. XO

  16. That sense of peace after the storm, you captured that so well. Also, what an adorable picture and accompanying poem: just right.

  17. Don't you love it when you miss the downpour?! Good timing all around. Some of the most beautiful skies can be seen after intense storms.
Who didn't smile at that picture and poem 😁
Very nice of Ms. G. Hopefully, your transportation challenges resolve quickly.

  18. Those poems made me laugh out loud. Thanks!

  19. All kinds of weather, all over the U.S. Good thing that baby's in a tub, so he can float away if need be!

  20. Thank God you are all OK. We heard about your tornadoes way up here. In fact, the Village of Orleans gets confused with New Orleans in my Google alerts, so I heard all the details. Even more woes for you when it comes from the sky.

Alcyone: the species name of the belted kingfisher, the bird of the year! What a coincidence.

  21. Both sides of Mother Nature revealed in all her glory.

  22. Holy Smoke! It's hard for me to wrap my head around looking for rainstorms and tornado warnings when we are sitting at -40 today! I look outside and all is peaceful and calm. But COLD!
That picture and your poems are adorable!
