Asleep On The Job (Six Sentence Story), Good Fences, Sammy’s Poetry Day, Brian’s Thankful Thursday and Happy Thanksgiving!

 ***********************************

My first attempt at a story was depressing, about those we miss at the holidays.

The second involved a pun about a shady character which just wasn't going to work out.

I tried several things to come up with an idea, reading, free association, doing chores to get my mind off it -- you know it's bad when you are doing extra work around the house to try to shake your muse out of a slump.

Nothing worked, and it's getting late, and tomorrow comes very early as my usual holiday schedule takes over, drive to NOLA, clean the kitchen, cook a meal, clean up from a meal, drive home.

It seems there's no rest for the weary, even on  holidays.

Except, of course, for my muse, who seems to have slipped into a shadow somewhere for a good, long nap.

Linking up with Denise at Girlie On The Edge Blog, where she hosts Six Sentence Stories, and the cue is Shadow.

While Good Fences Around the World seems to have gone the way of the dodo bird, i still enjoy looking for and posting interesting fences, so i will!

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day This week's image and my poem:

Although i might like to visit here

"far from the madding crowd"

and use it as a get-away

when my crazy life gets too loud,

no way do i want to live here

for the rest of my life

the commute to work or visit kin

would really cause me strife!

Angel Brian's Family of Brian's Home - Forever hosts the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.   It's time to share something for which i am thankful.

Today i'm thankful we were able to secure a rental car through Saturday, as it's going to be crazy busy and with our cars, it's not worth the chance.

He looks like he's praying to not get eaten!

  1. Perhaps your muse is hinting that you too could do with a long nap.
As an occasional sleepwalker that is

  4. Funny picture with the blow up turkey and very different kind of fence isn't it. Is that to keep us out or them in. Happy Thanksgiving Day

  5. Those muses ... Maybe our muses have been taking an outing together - maybe even all muses are away for Thanksgiving? Let us rest and relax and hope for them to return when their holiday is over.
Wonderful castle and poem, but like you -- living there, no thanks.

  6. Our Muses need time off as much as we do.
May the stress of preparations and all that's involved be rewarded by a reinvigorated Muse upon your return.
Excellent idea to rent a car. Safe travels, Mimi.

You should join your muse and have a good long nap.
    You've certainly earned one.

  19. sounds like it (the Muse) did as much as it ever does, remind us that while it might serve up interesting angles and clever words, we are the story-tellers
you have told one of the universal stories (at least among our kind)... and, in doing so, allow others to identify .... (and therein is the true magic... no, not abracadabra! lol. the magic is in 'I know how you feel')
    'cellent Sixifying

  20. Good poem for this week's crazy photo! We think anyone living there would probably have contant nosebleeds from the height or "altitude headaches" or some ailment......Imagine waking up in the middle of the night if you're a sleepwalker and disappearing forever out a window! EEEK!

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy
