Make No Bones About It (Random Tuesday)

Stacy Uncorked

And now, a bit of random news from around here, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked.

Well, this week certainly started out with a random unexpected happening.  As i was having coffee and reading online yesterday morning, #1 Son opened the door and fell over, saying “Oops!  I’m sorry!”

At first i thought he’d tripped over a cat, since they like to lie down right where it would be convenient for you to do so.  Turned out he and Friend Chris had been walking the night before and he’d stepped in a hole.  He fell trying to hop on his left foot over the thresh-hold because he’d injured his right foot.

He had walked home on it the night before and just gone to bed, thinking it would feel better in the morning.  Instead it was worse, and badly swollen.  Of to the Emergency Room, oh joy!

They got him into a room right away, then came over three hours of waiting — it seems we led a pack of people in, all in worse shape than he.

He does not have any broken bones, just a very bad sprain, which of course can be worse and take longer to heal.  Splint and crutches for now, and he is to ice it and elevate it and take ibuprofen as needed.

As the nurse said, he could follow up with an orthopedic doctor, but all that doctor will say is keep it elevated, stay off of it, ice and ibuprofen.  There's nothing you can do, no procedure or medication for a sprain.  Best to just let it heal, and not bother a doctor unless it isn't healing and seems a lot worse.

Baby Lee has lost a bit of weight and has a touch of jaundice.  It's not bad, just worrisome to first time parents.

Ms. JAI is having company this week, and had me dust everything in the house (except the two small rooms they won't use).  Dusting means taking the paintburshes and dust cloths and furniture polish and making sure everything, and i repeat, every thing, is dusted and if it's the correct kind of wood, polished.  Even if she is 81, she sees every speck of dust, so i try to get it all right the first time, trust me.

She is having trouble working with her flower beds, so i put Young Jacob in touch with her, that's his forte.  My hope is he will whip things into shape there so her son will quit threatening to just take a bush hog to the whole back yard!

Our weather has finally gotten cool enough for even Sweetie to wear a jacket.  As hard as cold weather can be on me, i hope it stays cool until May, the less we have to use the air conditioners, the happier i am.

Eli of Coach Daddy Blog had posted this month's Six Words post.  What month would you cut from the calendar if you could?  He had some great responses (he always does, but i really liked this one).

  4. Yikes on the foot and the baby. I hope they both feel better soon.

January can go as far as I'm concerned. It's so cold here in January.

    Have a fabulous day. ♥

  5. Oh, my word, yes. Sprain. Had one, seemed like it took forever and at least one more week to heal. Gingerly, gingerly step, and it feels not unlike a steak knife has been embedded in the ankle bone. Or maybe that was just me... Hope it improves quickly, and he doesn't ACTUALLY fall over a cat. That could be bad for both!!!
