It's Open, a Random and Happy Tuesday Post

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.  

Things have been a little mixed with Carl's house.  Last week, instead of cleaning his apartment (attached to the house) on Monday, i cleaned the public areas of the house for company and came back to do his room on Thursday.

Thus, 10 days elapsed between cleanings.

By that Thursday, his place was in a right state.  He has about two dozen pair of underwear, and yet he was relegated to using his short pajama bottoms for underwear.  How he ran out is anyone's guess, but it's most likely he just kept grabbing another pair, forgetting he'd gotten one out already, and they ended up on the floor.

He likes to put his CDs in a plastic grocery sack to take to work.  He had a couple of those lying around, with CDs in them, and the CD cases were sticky.  I won't ask what he'd put in there with them.

On his way out the door Thursday, he asked me to put his Bible back by his bed.  I found his devotional, but not his Bible.  Later i asked Ms. V to be on the lookout for it, and she said he'd gone to a Wednesday evening Bible study and it was probably in the car, she'd remind him to bring it in.

Thursday he ran out the door last minute (as always) asking if i'd packed drinks.  I had.

By the time i left Thursday, his room looked good.

By Monday, when we went back to our regularly scheduled programming, it was like this.

Not as bad as after 7 days, but you can see it only takes him 3 to get really started on making my workday count.

Ms. V is always concerned in this summer heat, since he works outdoors pushing grocery carts, that Carl will get seriously overheated.  He uses a cooling vest (you put ice packs in it) and the bands you fill with ice and put around your neck.

She makes him back them in the cooler and put them in the car the night before, with a lot of extra ice packs to keep them cold enough for overnight.  She knows if he waits until morning, he's likely to forget them.

I grabbed his car keys yesterday to go looking for his lunchbox (he'd actually put it in the cabinet, imagine that!) and found his Bible.

And it's a good thing i did look in the car as i also found he'd left the top of the cooler/ice chest loose and half the packs were melted.  This is not a surprise as he leaves everything open, drawers, cabinets, the door of the house...yes, the neighbors across the street often come by and close the door to the house when they notice it's been left open.

I replaced the thawed frozen packs and looked for his bigger cooler, the one which will hold his ice vest, too.

The bigger one was found inside the house, but the zipper is broken so it's useless.  Then i asked him if he had his vest ready, and as he nonchalantly scrolled through whatever was on his pad at the moment while eating his leisurely breakfast, he said, "It doesn't take long!"

Famous last words from him, so i got it ready.  Sure enough, by the time he decides he'd better leave, he's late.  As he ran for the door i asked about sunscreen.

"Oh, shoot!  Pass me some real quick, will ya?" he called as he scooted out the door to put his lunch in the car.  I ran and got him a tube and he was gone.
