Sparks is the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, who wanted us to post something positive and uplifting at the start of the week. While she no longer blogs, i like to post an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border. Charlotte/Mother Owl participates, and now Karen at Baking in a Tornado is jumping in at least once a month, too. Anyone else is welcome to join in the fun, just let Diane know!
This week the theme is Avocados.
Halve and take out pit
Sprinkle with good seasoning
Avocado joy
*******
I bought some avocados
while at the store one day,
no premade guacamole,
I do it my own way.
My taste buds are so picky,
I'm not a restaurant guac-a-phile,
For my favorite homemade recipe,
well, I would guac-a-mile!
I went to a Tex-Mex restaurant
to meet up with my friends,
one treated the table to appetizers,
their guac's supposedly high end.
But I declined to try it,
I preferred the salsa feast,
they made a big deal of it,
it was guac-ward, to say the least.
They finally realized I meant it,
and I ordered the salsa instead,
my friends think I've hit guac bottom,
and I'm touched in the head!

Smiling - and I can think of quite a few people that an avocado doesn't make happy.
ReplyDeleteI eat avocados every day, but I don't know that they make me laugh like this post. Did I see a pine cone growing out the side of a huge tree? Weird if I did.
ReplyDeleteSquirrels are so very frustrating. We watch them, lunge at them, try to chase them. They enjoy taunting us. Mom just started to eat guac about a year ago but doesn't know how to make her own.
ReplyDeleteHow you write that is beyond me. It would take a month to get even close.
ReplyDeleteI love homemade guacamole! That's some good stuff. :p Your poem is so cute and fun. Who knew today is National Cotton Candy Day? I used to love and still do this stuff! Have a boogietastic week, Mimi!
ReplyDeleteI love that poem. You made me chuckle.
ReplyDeleteAwww on the pup. This reminded me of our Angel Little Bit. She loved watching the tree rats. Adorable.
Love the Spark.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Hugs. ♥
Mr. Cal is a cutie. I like your spark and your poem. The only restaurant with really good guacamole is The Cheesecake Factory.
ReplyDeleteMr Cal ~ you are adorable ~ 'tree rats' not so much ~ lol
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

LOVE the puns!!!
Mr. Cal was enjoying the squirrely antics! That was sure a fun poem!
