When Becca, Mr. Cal and i stopped to look at this little guy, he "sped away" as fast as he could.

He really is in a tearing hurry!

Sparks is the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, who wanted us to post something positive and uplifting at the start of the week.  While she no longer blogs, i like to post an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border Charlotte/Mother Owl participates, and now Karen at Baking in a Tornado is jumping in at least once a month, too.  Anyone else is welcome to join in the fun, just let Diane know!

This week the theme is Mirrors.          \

Mirror, mirror, on the wall,

I never liked you much at all!

*******

The Versailles Hall of Mirrors

is grand if you are vain,

but i tend to avoid mirrors,

to me they are a pain.

They never seem to show me

what i'd like to see,

instead they seem to emphasize

the very worst of me.

Thus i tend to eschew them

but once a day, we have a date,

when i take a peek at the top of my head,

so my hair is parted straight!

  1. Like you I avoid mirrors - and I don't have a part so don't have a daily (or even weekly) date with the horrid things.

  2. Love the last two quotes! Bailie saw a turtle in Gramma's neighborhood. It sped off as fast as a turtle can speed, but Bailie was scared of it, LOL!

  3. I probably spent some time viewing myself in the mirror as a teen. Nothing I do now, except to see if my hair needs brushing before going out in public, lol. Love seeing the turtle. I see water type turtles here but never the land tortise any more.

  4. Turtles are such interesting little creatures. They carry their shelter with them and when times get scary, they just fold up their tent and wait out the storm.
It would seem that our society has turned almost every day into disobedience day. I'm not sure it's worth celebrating. Heaven knows, we've all been in fights that weren't worth being won. I think I'll opt for National Chocolate Wafer Day. Now that's something I can celebrated. Have a blessed week.

  8. A hurrying turtle! Fun, he looks in a hurry actually. I never had a good relationship with mirrors, use them only to braid my hair, recently I began wondering who is that old woman jumping in between me and the mirror every time I have to use it.

  13. I like turtles and tortoises. I comb my hair straight back into a ponytail so have no need of a mirror to check if my part is straight, but I do check if my eyebrows are neat before I leave the house. As I get older I tend to have hairs growing in all directions from them.
