Awww Monday is hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus.
Join us every Monday for Awww...Mondays. Post a picture that makes you say Awww... and that's it.
Make sure you get the code from Sandee's site, linked above, and leave a link to your post so we can visit you. What better way to start the week than with a smile!
For those who don't like reptiles, skip the pictures, it's another anole.
The other day, i was surprised to see a movement out of the corner of my eye in the kitchen sink. On further inspection, it was time for a rescue to be staged.

Sparks is the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, who wanted us to post something positive and uplifting at the start of the week. While she no longer blogs, i like to post an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor. (I usually try to do an inspiring quote based on the poetry theme for poetry Monday, but i could not find any quotes from sea monsters, just land monsters, sorry.)
***********************************
Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border. Charlotte/Mother Owl participates, and now Karen at Baking in a Tornado is jumping in at least once a month, too. Anyone else is welcome to join in the fun, just let Diane know!
This week the theme is Sea Monsters.
Sea monster loves the
Open mic comedy night
Always Kraken jokes
*******
Two sea monsters were talking
about their weekend plan,
one for going to Neptune's palace
to hear a cool new band.
The other wanted to head up
To Ireland's beautiful shore,
he said it was the best place
to snack and snack some more.
The first one asked what kind of snacks
which could make him smack his lips,
he answered, "They export potatoes,
and there's nothing like potato ships!"
The first decided this sounded good,
and this was their lucky week,
it wasn't just one ship sailing,
it was the big potato ship fleet.
The friend who'd brought him out there
didn't wait 'til they were done,
with the first before starting a second,
"Well, no one can eat just one!"
The monster whose idea it was
at ship after ship did spring,
and when he'd done his comment was,
"I can't believe I ate the hull thing!"
*******
When we were little children
our family would go to the shore,
we'd have a joyous time with
the beach right beside our door.
And when we got in the water
we had to careful be,
in order to avoid him,
the monster of the sea!
He'd tickle at our toesies
or an ankle he might nip,
we'd jump up to avoid him,
or maybe do a flip.
But then he would run out of breath,
come up, and we would see,
the fun, playful sea monster was
only our own daddy!

ReplyDeleteRemember the Cookie Monster?
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
The cookie monster is always good and funny and we love the laughter instead of screams!

ReplyDeleteTiny little rescue. Glad you spotted it. Cute cartoons, give me a cookie to silence my brain Screams, lol
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a baby gator or some prehistoric creature of sorts. Good golly, I'd be freaking out big time IF I saw even one so tiny! HaHa!! I glad you got it out of the house and outside where it belongs. Your poems are so cute and the first one made me smile which I really needed this morning. I'm asking friends to keep my daddy in prayer. He had a heart attack on Saturday and yesterday they did the cauterization surgery. He's not in the best of shape and it sounds scary. I'm trusting this all in God's hands. We plan to travel southwest VA for the day visit later in the week. Thanks, dear friend. Have an awwwesome Monday and a boogietastic week!
ReplyDeleteThat last joke there about pasta! BIG laugh here and those others...about potato ships...oh yes!
ReplyDeleteI love your rescue. We do the same thing. They are so precious.
ReplyDeleteLove your Sparks.
I love your sense of humor this morning. You made me smile and laugh out loud.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥
Aww. What a cute little critter. Most people wouldn't have taken the time to rescue him. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a cute 'tiny' critter and great Sparks and poem ~ you are so talented ~ Xo
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

Senior Citizens Day? Why didn't we get the memo? Maybe we did and I just forgot. It doesn't appear that the news considers it a very big event.
ReplyDeleteYour sink anole is much cuter than my bathtub spider ;) but both deserve a rescue (no photos, I forgot). I love your poems the Haiku is FUN! The sea monster / daddy one is sweet, and the second one is hilarious, though I'm happy I visited Diane's blog first as else the Potato ships would have left me behind.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the poems. Hull thing- LOL. :) I would scream if that was in my kitchen.
ReplyDeleteThat was a good save! Those are fun Sparks and fun poems too.
ReplyDeleteI love the cookie monster meme and am borrowing it for future use; hope you don't mind? The puns in your poems are great :)
ReplyDeleteThe quotes and poems are great. I've done the rescue thing a few times when living in other states, we'd get skinks or geckos inside or sometimes those big hairy spiders that don't do any harm and geckos inside are supposed to be lucky, but we trapped and took outside anyway, we usually let them go somewhere shady.
ReplyDeleteWell saved, I'm sure it was grateful! Poems - brilliant.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie!
ReplyDeleteYour poems are brilliant! Amazing how we zeroed in on the same topic! ;) I love the 'Daddy Monster' poem!
