It's time again for Thankful Day and i'm thankful it comes around regularly.
We've had rain and we're thankful, the lawns are thankful, the swamps are thankful and i'm sure the farmers are thankful. We haven't had bad storms, and i'm especially thankful!
Grandma went down for a much needed nap on Saturday last week and i finished with the house early, so we left early. It was nice to get home and have time to put my feet up a while.
Becca and i have a new Sunday schedule while there is only one service per week. We will be walking Mr. Cal early, before breakfast, so it doesn't get too hot. We're thankful to have found a way to get the walks in without melting.
I'm thankful to belong to a church that puts it's work and money where it's words are. We claim to believe in missions and outreach, and we're doing it. One church program ministers to men in the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola, and three former inmates, well known to this prison ministry, are now part of a new mission in one of the poorest and most crime ridden areas around here. They have all earned degrees from Baptist Theological Seminary in NOLA, and our church is sponsoring their starting a church where it's needed most.
We're thankful one of those pastors gave the sermon at our church last week. He hit a home run with, "Be Careful How You Build."
Monday i had reason to be thankful we were not out of litter, it meant i didn't have to make a special trip to the store.
Tuesday was #2 Son's birthday, and i got to see him for a few minutes when he came just as i was leaving for Bible study. I'm thankful he caught me before i left and thankful it was a good study.
Tuesday was also Prime Day and i had an Amazon gift card and some points to spend. I was thankful to get a few things i'd been needing, including work shoes and support insoles.
Grandma also insisted i pick something i just wanted but didn't need and she ordered it for me. I'm thankful for my new rolling bag, it came Friday (the rest of my stuff will be delivered next week). It's so convenient to have something to roll instead of carry!
I showed up Wednesday morning at the shelter for the morning caretaking shift
and what to my wondering eyes should appear
but a scampering kitten, running 'round without fear.
Two, actually, their bottom cage door had not been secured and they were running loose all over. I was thankful to be able to catch them and get them back in their rightful place.
Ms. G had us at Ms. Fiona's again, i'm thankful we spray our legs and shoes with flea spray before we go in and so far, so good.
I'm thankful, too, she has decided to keep Ms. Fiona's tame cats and found a place for the feral ones.
My Thursday at Ms. V's house went as it always does, it was long and there was much to do. The thankful thing, Mr. L was feeling better that day.
The shelter was only moderately busy Friday night and Ms. M, my caretaking partner was running late. I'm thankful she did arrive and we split it all up and managed to get all the cats fed and watered.
