Au Revoir, Carl and Ms. V, a Random and Happy Tuesday Post

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus

Ms. V has a good friend who has a condo on the beach near where our family used to vacation each year.

Good friends lend you the condo for a get-away, and that's exactly what happened.

After last October's fiasco where Ms. V and Carl were supposed to go on a leaf-peeping and history tour, and she got so upset about leaving Mr. L home alone she was having panic attacks, the friend insisted on offering the condo for a short, nearby get-away where a couple of hours by car would have Ms. V back home if there was an emergency.

Ms. V, Carl, and her other son J and J's wife, M went, and Mr. L stayed home.  He was  invited, but realistically his travel days are done.

The sky was threatening rain when i arrived and for once, Ms. V and Carl had parked the cars just far enough apart i could squeeze my car in the carport with theirs.  It was a good thing, too, because the heavens opened up soon after.

Once in the house, i ran into Ms. V's particular quirk, which is door locks.  Ever since the break-in while she was home alone almost 15 years ago, if she leaves the house she locks everything.  Even if she stays home, she locks most things.

The laundry room has two doors, one into the back hall.  It's the door i use so i don't have to go into the main house on Monday from Carl's attached apartment to get in there.

It has a deadbolt no one has a key to as the only key lives on a hook in the laundry room, and the laundry room was locked.  So were the hall doors, and Carl's door.

After several minutes of opening lock after lock with the keys i do have, i finally got into the laundry room through the other door, found the bolt key, and got that open by the hardest.  As it's never used, it doesn't like to give easily.

Mr. L saw me and said, "I didn't know you were coming today!"

I commented it was a good time to come, i'd get more done with Carl out of town, and he laughed then said, "He's probably left it a worse mess than usual."

He wasn't joking.

Carl had dug this up from somewhere.

I'm sure Ms. V has had this in storage for many years, as she's frugal and throws away almost nothing which might be of any use.  He was using it to water his plant.

Which i only yesterday noticed has some instructions on the side.  They were simply, water well and often, drain to prevent root rot.

In spite of the mess, Carl did pack a good bit, including almost all of his shorts and both travel sizes and full sizes of all his toiletries.

Although he left the travel toiletries kit behind.  Heaven knows what he put them all in.

He's also packed only one of his four sets of pajamas, and no, it wasn't a matched set.  The striped bottom and the busy patterned top went on vacation together and left their partners behind.  At least he'll be covered, which his sister-in-law will appreciate.

There was not much in the fridge.

I got rid of what was open, got the laundry done, and cleaned the room ready for his return on Thursday.

May they have a good vacation, i'm sure by next Monday, i'll have my work cut out helping him finish with the unpacking.

How about some funnies.

Have a blessed and beautiful Tuesday, everyone!
