It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.
The first week back at work after vacation is never easy.
Carl is no exception. Although how he goes through so much underclothing in one week is something i'm not sure i want to think too much about.
There's almost always at least one thing he does each week which is different. This week, at one point, he'd worn two shirts at once, then taken them off together, washed them together and dried them together. That's not something i'd seen before.
The family had been busy over the weekend. Mr. L's new special electric recliner that helps you stand up and will lay flat so you can sleep in it had been put together. The chair it was replacing in the living room had to go somewhere, and Carl's room is always elected for such things.
Carl actually got up about ten minutes earlier than usual and went straight for his shower. When he came out he was ready to talk.
I'd found this communion cup on the counter and asked him about it. (These cups are often used when taking communion outdoors or at large events, you peel back one lid and have a small piece of unleavened bread, peel back the other and there is unfermented wine -- meaning grape juice.)
"I went to Hope church and we had communion, and they had these and I took one," he explained. Then he went on. "After, I went to the other church with the good Sunday school class, and we did crafts with chalk!" He smiled at the memory, he really loves crafts.
Next he asked me, "How was the crawfish?"
I told him our Palm Sunday celebration was wonderful and those who eat crawfish had enjoyed it. I asked why he didn't come.
"I didn't get to sign up," he said, but I reminded him next time to come anyway, there are always a few extra plates.
"My brother and sister-in-law came and we celebrated my dad's birthday again, that was fun on Friday. Then my friend came on Saturday and we played video games!"
It sounds like you had quite a weekend, i told him, and he smiled, then headed for the kitchen.
I followed to make him a sandwich, only to find they were still out of mayo.
While making a sandwich, Carl asked about a cup of coffee. They have a one cup coffee maker, and he was standing there with the half full reservoir in his hands, trying to figure out how to attach it. I took it and attached it, he spent some time picking which flavor of coffee pod he wanted, and i put it in, plugged it in and turned it on.
It didn't work. At all. Nothing.
"Oh, we've been having trouble with that," he said.
Now, he tells me.
I boiled water in the microwave and did a pour over while also making a sandwich with ranch dressing instead of mayo, and the rest of his lunch.
After making the sandwich, i found the new bottle of mayonnaise, they'd put it in the pantry and left the empty one in the refrigerator.
Once Carl had his coffee and his lunch was packed, i went back to work in his room and saw him next when he came in talking about a buddy.
I asked which one, and he said, "Big Buddies. They do events. How can I get involved in that?"
I told him there is a Big Buddy program, but you have to sign up and get trained.
"Oh," he said, then wandered off saying, "gotta get my pills."
He brings Tums and Gas-X with him to work. He's got a sensitive stomach for someone who eats the way he does.
Next he pulled out his new bottle of lotion, and was getting it everywhere, including some of it on the skin he was trying to target. I shooed him out for work with just enough time to get there.
It's time for funnies.
Have a blessed and beautiful Tuesday, everyone!

You're so wonderful to Carl. :) - My favorite sign was the "What if nobody was President and we all promised real hard to just be cool." If only it were that easy...
ReplyDeleteWe hope your Manic Monday with Carl doesn't set the tone for the rest of the week. How does that family survive without you and your help for the other days?
ReplyDeleteThe funnies are all so good, but we really liked the one about the stomach being f(l)at:)
Woos - Misty and Timber
