It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.
Carl and Ms. V were back from vacation.
Carl had been busy.
He always does a little something to throw me. Not on purpose of course, but nevertheless, there is it.
There were still matched sets of socks in the drawer from when I'd done them the week before, and he'd only been home 3 days and hadn't gone to work. Still he had grabbed mismatched socks instead of one of the rolled pairs. Probably because he'd stuffed a whole bunch of other stuff in the sock drawer which i had to clean out.
When Carl did get up from his sleep chair to shower, he actually picked up some of his pajamas from the sleep chair and dropped them in the laundry room. Not all of them, the rest had to be dug out from under the chair cushion, but it was a nice gesture.
He headed to take a shower mumbling something about being in orbit the day before which i never did quite catch, and came out of the shower talking about festivals.
"There are 3 festivals in this state this weekend!" he said, most excited. It's probably true, there's a festival 52 weekends a year in this state, from very small to very large.
"We had crawfish at church this weekend!" was his next thrilling announcement. He loves to eat, and people down here do celebrate spring and Easter with crawfish boils. The church he and Ms. V attend now did theirs this past weekend, the other church will be this coming weekend. He'll probably show up, which is fine by us, he's a favorite.
He talked about a play at church, too. It seems to be the season as our children's choir had one also, but he couldn't tell me what theirs was about. No matter, he enjoyed it and that's the point.
Once he was done eating and i'd packed his lunch, he kept walking past me mumbling and turning off lights i was using. Eventually i told him he only had 15 minutes before he had to leave and he gave me his usual, "Working on it!" then disappeared.
He came back a few minutes later having obviously been in his parents' office to print something as he had a sheaf of papers with a mangled staple not quite holding them together. I offered to remove the staple and restaple them properly, but he said, "No time!" so i bent the mangled staple in half so it would at least partly hold.
He was very satisfied with that and turned to leave, but i stopped him to put on his name tag. At this point, he wanted to get his new watch out.
There was no time so i promised to wrest it from the bindings they use to prevent theft and he could work on setting the time when he got home.
Then he took the papers and his lunch box to the car, and ran back in calling, "Jacket!"
The temperatures have gone down again and we are back in jackets and sleeves, so i handed him one from the closet and he left. You know vacation is over when you are back to work.
How about some funnies?
Have a blessed and beautiful Tuesday, everyone!

I love that there is no angry way to say bubbles. I hadn't thought of it - but it is true.
ReplyDeleteHis mix-up with mismatched socks, the excitement over festivals, and the quick dash to get his jacket all paint a picture of the little everyday rituals that come with home life after a break. It's always interesting to read about the little things that bring joy, even in the mundane. His enthusiasm for festivals and crawfish boils really adds a personal touch to the post.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this fun glimpse into everyday life! I shared a new post; you are invited to read.
