It's a New Year, and the Thankful Things Go On

(Because some people like Blogger and some like WordPress, i am putting the same content at both.  If you would prefer to read this on the other site, it is linked here.)

***********************************

It’s only less than two weeks into the new year and already there is a heaping pile of thankful things just waiting to be listed and counted and totted up.

Jalopy’s latest repairs are almost paid off.

When her battery died, Young Jacob went and got a new one and installed it at no charge, we just had to buy the battery.  (You have no clue how hard it is to get to the battery on a Saturn Relay minivan, and you don’t want to, that was a huge favor!)

#1 Son was finally able to sell something he’d been trying to get rid of, which will help him with his bills.

#2 Son’s father-in-law helped him when he needed tires for Happy the Honda — he put trailer tires on it, and they work.

One client going out of town and one client allowing me to move the cleaning to a different day made for a day off this week.

Satsumas, fresh from a friend’s tree, the best dessert.

Lunceford the Land Yacht’s heater blower has started to work again.

We’ve had several days of sun to dry us out after several days of rain.

We found another space heater on sale after Jezzie dog ate the cord off of the one in the library.

Last Saturday, when i went to Grandma and Grandpa’s house, they actually let me run two errands for them!  That’s especially big, as Grandpa insists on doing almost everything for himself.

Today is Kiss a Ginger Day, and i’m going to make sure that after work i get to see my three favorite gingers, Red-headed Alec, Sweet Sue, and Baby Lee.

Please join us and our gracious and wonderful hostess Kristi from ThankfulMe, write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful.

  3. Good things to be thankful for. And Grandpa is doing the right thing by continuing to do stuff for himself most times. Keeps him fit! I'm glad you got a day off, you sound as if you always work so hard so it must be good to have some empty space to please yourself once in a while.

  4. OK, the Bikaner Camel Festival has now joined the bucket list right next to the lighted elephant Esala Perahera in Kandy...

  6. The only thing I'm thankful for today is after the entire year my cruise is coming up, only 5 days to come. It's been a touch this year but we will make it if God wishes to allow me. Have a great day Mimi.

  9. Looking on the positive side of things is a great way to live. There are always positive things and unfortunately some people just dwell on the negative.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, my friend. ♥

  10. Kiss a ginger day? I'll have to let John know. Though the red has faded over the years, he's ginger enough to celebrate. :-)

Glad your cars are getting the attention they need. We also keep ours going as long as possible before replacing them. We're toying with the idea of trading one in in a year or so, as there are now times we can't make it up/down our hill in a snowstorm before the plow comes. 4-wheel drive would (presumably) keep us from being house-bound (or having to park down the hill and hike!)

  11. So often we zip right past the good stuff and focus on the bad things that happen. I'm glad you always provide a reminder for me to count my blessings.

Glad your car woes are working out in your favor.

BTW satsuma is also a genus of land snails. I was shocked to see you refer to it a dessert. I had never heard the word used in context to citrus. I had a good laugh about that 😁

  12. Great list of thankfuls. I think I have an idea of the battery being hard to replace. My mom's Le Sabre needs to have a tire removed to change hers. I hope you get to hug that adorable baby today :) I will hug Prancie, my ginger cat.

  13. I once had a Satsuma plum tree, most delicious red fleshed plums I ever ate. I needed a pollinator tree for it, so chose a mariposa, also a red fleshed plum, but it didn't do so well, very few fruits on that one.

  15. I love satsumas!
It is nice that your Grandpa knew he could depend on you to do the errand.
There used to be a guy around here with a red beard, but he exchanged it for a different color. The new color is more in style for the times. HaHa
