Our Buddy (Feline Friday) and Friendly Fill-Ins

(Because some people like Blogger and some like WordPress, i am putting the same content at both.  If you would prefer to read this on the other site, it is linked here.)

***********************************

Feline Friday was started by Steve, The Burnt Food Dude, and i'm going to believe it's because he likes cats.
He has handed hosting duties off to Sandee, of Comedy Plus, and it's simple to join, just follow the link to Sandee's page for the rules and the code.

This is Buddy:

Buddy wandered up to the shelter a few years ago, and while he accepted food proffered, he showed himself quite able to take care of himself outdoors.  He was neutered and given shots, but he wanted to stay outside except during the flood and the snow.  He adored treats, lying under cars to get out of the sun, and being scratched behind the ears.

He was allowed to live life the way he chose, and two other strays, both female, showed up to follow him around adoringly.  They were caught and vetted, but unlike Buddy, they are truly feral and won't come near people.

A week ago, Buddy limped to the front door and asked to come in.  The vet said it's either he got in a fight and his back leg was bitten and is infected, or he got hit by a car.  Either way, the exam also showed he has stomatitis, which means all of his teeth need to be pulled.

He's been living in the director's office, being a sweetheart, so his roaming days are over.  Once his teeth are gone and his leg heals, he will be adopted to a forever home, and there's a volunteer who is already making noises about wanting him.

His "harem" may miss him, but they will continue to be fed and cared for outdoors, where they are comfortable.

Friendly Fill-Ins are easy to do. There are four statements: the first two statements are provided by Ellen of 15AndMeowing, and the final two are offered by Lorianne The Menagerie Mom of Four-Legged Furballs. They try to make sure the statements will be fun to both answer and share. The linky will be posted at or about 12:00 AM on Friday. Please head over to one of their sites, link up, and share your thoughts!

Here are this week's statements with my responses underlined:

1. ____________________ and ______________ go hand in hand.

2. _____________________ makes my heart happy.

3. Don’t be afraid to _________.

4. If _________ was a sport, I would win hands down.

1. Relaxing and reading go hand in hand.

2. Having lots of books to read makes my heart happy.   (Of course my family does, too, but since that's a given and everyone knows it already, i wanted to give something else as my answer.)

3. Don’t be afraid to read something that is not necessarily in your usual favorite genre(s).  You might be pleasantly surprised.

4. If being myself was a sport, I would win hands down.

  1. I remember that firestorm in my home town. Awful. And the scars remain.
I am glad that Buddy was smart enough to ask for help, and even more glad that he got it. Thank you all.

  2. My book club has one woman in it who inevitably selects books that I would ordinarily not touch with a ten-foot pole. I can't say I enjoy most of them, truthfully, but I *do* enjoy the fact that it gets me expanding my selections. And sometimes, the surprise is very pleasant indeed!

  12. Your #3 is so right. We are often sent fiction books to review. I don't normally read fiction but will from time to time. Purge of the Potomac was a good book.
