Remnant (Six Sentence Story), Good Fences, Sammy's Poetry Day, and Brian's Thankful Thursday

***********************************

Yesterday, i got to visit DiDreaming in Mobile, a very good friend.

Among other things we saw as we walked through some of downtown Mobile, there is a small remnant, a pile of bricks, from the original fort built at Mobile's founding.

It seems some people didn't have as much desire to hang on to their historical buildings as others, and when the fort was no longer needed, it was mostly dismantled and the materials used for other buildings.

There now stands a replica of the original fort on that site, and as she's seen it several times, Di let me go exploring on my own.

We also also saw the downtown museum, which currently has an Egyptian mummy display, both fascinating and a bit creepy.

It was a wonderful visit, and my biggest regret is that we don't get to see each other more often, as we always have a good time and enjoy each other's company.

Gosia at Looking for Identity has taken over Good Fences, and it's now Good Fences Around The World.  Post a picture of a fence or gate, link back to her blog, and go visit other blogs to see what interesting fences there are out in this big world.

The fence at the state park seems to be on the decline again.  Every few years, they rebuild it.

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day!  This week's image and my poem:

Don't knock it 'til  you've tried it,

It really is a blast,

You go ahead and walk along,

While I go whizzing past!

  4. The dunes with the fence looks just like the dunes area on the North Sea coast where Mom lived for a few years in Germany. The beach and dunes are something she does miss, there isn't much else.
