Ketchup, Applesauce and the Closet Switcheroo, a Random and Happy Tuesday Post

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.  

It was back to work after a four day weekend for Carl, and his room showed it.

But first, i go to the laundry room.  There were only 2 dryer balls in the dryer, down from five last time i was there.  Where did the others disappear to?  I never did find out, they didn't turn up in his room where they usually are.  It's okay, they come in pairs and two really is enough.

It's just odd the rest have disappeared all at once, usually it's only one at a time, until Carl buys more.

Holidays are hard on him, though, because as much as he loves time off, he thrives on routine and when he's off of it, it shows.

The wet laundry in the washer was clean, however, which is a plus.

However, just when i thought it was safe to turn on the laundry room light after months of not having one, it didn't want to turn on once or twice yesterday.

Oh, help.  Laundry while juggling a flashlight isn't fun, but needs must.

Once Carl was sleeping in his chair (his pre-work, after sleep nap, perhaps?), i got into his room and found these.

He has managed to hold on to two of his lunch coolers.  So far.

As i picked up towels, i found adventure.

That little thing is the inner working of a dental floss roll minus the floss, which was here:

Yes, it all got put back together but for how long is anyone's guess.

Then i dissected the fridge mess.

Yes, that's a regular fork and knife from the kitchen in there.  No wonder they're missing so much.

Last week really must have been hard on him.

He got desperate enough packing food for work lunches he finally resorted to crackers and raisins instead of a sandwich.

There were also restaurant go bags in several places.  Ms. V did not host the Thanksgiving dinner, her daughter-in-law and son did, so no leftovers.  Carl lives to eat and the fact there were no more fruit cups when i later went to pack his lunch tells me the pickings were slim and he probably ate through just about everything in the house and resorted to ordering food delivered.

For the record, i had a full outfit waiting for him in the bathroom when he finally woke up and went to shower.  Also for the record, he did not flash me this time.  He just came out only in his undies to ask if there was a thicker shirt available.

I found him a long sleeve shirt to go under the short sleeve shirt, and they coordinate.  He'll stay warmer until afternoon, when he can take off the long sleeve if he wants.

He then came out carrying shoes and socks and asking, "Powder?"

You may be out, I told him, I haven't seen any and it's probably time to buy some.

However, i was wrong.  Turns out, if you pry the top off the powder container, you get just that smidge more.

As i made a sandwich for his lunch with the bits left in the fridge, he said, "Mug?"  I asked if he needed a mug and he confirmed, "Coffee mug!"

I handed him one from the cabinet and he got a pained look.  "No, wrong kind," he said but when i asked what kind he wanted, he couldn't quite tell me.

Meanwhile, i carried on with sandwich making until he said, "No mustard!"

Okay, i said and he went on.  "Ketchup!"

Ketchup and mayo on a smoked deli turkey sandwich?

"Ketchup and mayo," he confirmed, rolling his eyes in the pleasure of anticipating a good sandwich while eating his breakfast.

He got ketchup and mayo on his "applewood smoked turkey breast" deli meat slices.

Once again, they're not my taste buds, and I'm glad of it.

He asked me how the cat shelter is doing, and i told him it's very crowded.  We also discussed things his did over the weekend (i think he went to some kind of demo at a local park) and the stuff he wants to do this month.  He's got plans!

Once he was done with breakfast, he started looking for a jacket, it was a bit chilly yesterday morning.  He no longer has a jacket, he lost his last one and he hasn't been to the thrift store to buy another.

He's not allowed to buy new ones, he loses them too frequently.

He finally agreed it's going to warm up enough by afternoon to live without one for now and i did the summer/winter clothes switcheroo, moving his summer work clothes to the back of the closet and winter to the front.

Of course, because i did that, next week will be warm and he'll be hauling out the shorts again, but nothing i can do about that.

Once almost out the door, he stopped and said, "Floss."

You didn't floss? i asked.  You can take a moment if you want, i told him, but keep an eye on the time, or floss when you get home.

He headed for the door and went out, coming right back in.

"Gloves?"

You only had the one i could find, i told him and he finally got out the door.

It's December, and so it's time.
