And here i thought they only came in pink (Wordless Wednesday) and Words for Wednesday

(Because some people like Blogger and some like WordPress, i am putting the same content at both.  If you would prefer to read this on the other site, it is linked here.)

Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and has become a moveable feast of word or picture or music prompts that encourages us to write stories, poems, or whatever strikes our fancy.

This month, the prompts are being provided by Delores at Mumblings.

perfume
blanket
blue
market
voltage
feline

and/or

exotic
throttle
oven
comprehend
toss
trespass

How he loved that FELINE.

Yet how he wanted to THROTTLE it right now.

The first time it had committed the TRESPASS of sneaking out of her apartment door when she was coming in with her arms full, he'd seen it bolt and taken off after it, the knight in shining armor (or, in reality, in BLUE jeans and a t-shirt).

She hailed him as a hero when he brought her EXOTIC Persian, just adopted, back to her, and it gave him the opening he'd wanted.  Now, over a year later, he thanked the cat that they were married but the game the cat played was getting old.

Instead of being at home snoozing on her favorite BLANKET, the cat was running through the alley again for reasons no one could COMPREHEND.  It would lead him a merry chase then let itself be caught, but not before he was treated to the PERFUME of the Dumpster behind the MARKET, or had to climb with care behind the VOLTAGE meter of the building, in the cold of winter or the broiling OVEN of a city summer for at least a half hour.

He loved her, he loved her cat, and right now he was ready to TOSS the cat back to the shelter from which it had come.  But not really.

Finally, he cornered her and she flopped down, allowing herself to be picked up and hauled back home.  After all, her highness was now worn out and couldn't be expected to walk back to the apartment.

Wordpress hates me.  For some reason, it has seen fit to "feature" one of my posts and keep it at the top.   No, i did not enable the "stick this post" button.  If anyone has any suggestions on how to correct this, please let me know, as i fought with it for hours yesterday and gave up and am out of ideas.

  7. Love your take on the prompts. The cats lower my blood pressure - except when they send it skyrocketing.

  14. Love the story :)
As much as I love her, I have moments when I'd like to throttle my cat too.

  15. Mimi,

pAwesome story! Pets, especially cats, often trigger that love/hate relationship. Although, we really don't have a suitable place for outdoor pets, the huge responsibility that comes with having makes me think hard on how much do I really want one. For now, I don't have to give this much serious thought but one day...maybe I will contemplate such a decision. Nice job with the word prompts!

  16. I love the flamingos...In fact, I have flamingo sheets on my bed right now and a flamingo hanging from the chain on my bedroom ceiling fan.

I loved your story. As a lifelong cat lover, I laughed at HRH and her antics. Cats definitely have a mind of their own. We train dogs and cats train us.
