Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and has become a moveable feast of word or picture or music prompts to encourage us to write stories, poems, or whatever strikes our fancy.

This month, River is providing the prompts on her blog.

This week's prompt is: 'T'was a hot midsummer's eve and a storm was brewing on the horizon

and this photo,borrowed from Lee:

Charlotte (MotherOwl)  has selected Saint Patrick's Green as the colour of the month.

"T'was a hot midsummer's eve and a storm was brewing on the horizon."

Tamira was weaving another of her stories, Meredith, Jamal and Nydia sitting nearby listening intently.

They were all facing the water, watching the waves endlessly lapping at the shore as the sun was going down.  A few palm trees grew within their line of sight, and some people who had been out in a canoe were pulling it up on the beach.

As Tamira's voice wove her spell, they idly watched the canoe owners cover it with a St. Patrick's Green tarp and head home for supper.

They would all be going soon, too, but first they had to hear how the water nymphs had dealt with the storm.  Would the sea horses be safe?  Did the sand fairies lose any of their castles?

After hearing the story out, and all was well, they walked together to the main street where they parted, each to their own house.  Their parents were all accustomed by now to not worrying, Tamira was trusted to get them home, but always the stories came first.

It's Purple Day, a day to support those who have epilepsy.

The Five Sibes and Their Scribe   were five Siberian Husky dogs and their human and one of the dogs, Gibson, had epilepsy.  They advocate for dogs with epilepsy, proving that with treatment, they can LiveGibStrong and have wonderful lives.

If you or anyone you know has a dog with epilepsy, they're a great resource.  Today, we celebrate strides made in caring for people and dogs (and other pets) with epilepsy.

  1. I like your story and can picture the children watching the water as the story is told.
I once knew a dog with epilepsy, but that was easily 35 years ago and she is no longer with us, now only my neighbour has epilepsy.

  2. Love your story - and the story teller is a precious resource.
I didn't know that dogs could get epilepsy. I assume cats can too.

  3. That line of printing explains why when you click print on a computer it says it is waiting or you have documents ahead of you. Now we know where that line starts, LOL!

  12. You are a great storyteller. You make us think of our Dad who would make up the best stories off the top of his head for the grands when they were babies. Even as teenagers now, they remind him about what they remember of his tales.

Mom just picked up a huge amount of paper too - it was on sale. but she has to have someone load it in the car for her and then she brings in two packages at a time. The boxes are so heavy for her.
