Ms. G's assignment yesterday was a tough one, clean out a house to make it move-in-ready for the new occupants.
It was not an absolute wreck, far from it, but after weeks of painters and flooring people and repairpersons of all sorts the toilets and kitchen sink were in rough shape, the tubs full of dust and grot and as always, the painters are supposed to clean up those spots but they never quite do.
The previous occupants had also left their fingerprints, splashes and splotches on cabinets and the child had gone to town on leaving hand prints all over one particularly hard to clean glass window (there were child safety latches on the lower cabinets of the kitchen and the prints were small, telling me at least one toddler aged person had lived there).
We dusted, and swept, and scrubbed, and mopped, and i about sandblasted those toilets into submission and they are now sanitary enough for anyone.
The worst part was the paint spots on the floors, all of which had to be scraped up by hand, one at a time, along with a few other things which had gotten stuck to the floors and would not come up without the very careful use of a metal scraper.
It took me and Sweetie about 6 hours of teamwork to make it happen and if this kind of work doesn't kill me, it will probably make me strong enough to reach 100+.

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day! This week's image and my poem:
C'mon, mom, that stuff is rank!
If it's gone, it's you I'll thank,
then, if you really wanna give me a break
have dad cook us a really big steak!

Love the picture and poem. I'm astonished at how some people leave their houses. We moved a lot and never ever left a house that wasn't thoroughly cleaned.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a VERY tough cleaning job. I suspect I would feel 100 if I took it on.
ReplyDeleteSmiling at your poem. Oh that face...
That does not seem fun at all. Mom isn't a fan of cleaning but it has to be done on a regular basis so she does it but cleaning the messes for others would not be for her. You do a wonderful job and people are lucky to have you to help them out.
ReplyDeleteYou and your husband certainly had your hands full cleaning that house. I do enjoy looking at the fences. I actually don't see many around here where I live unless it's just a chain link fence in the backyard for the dog.
ReplyDeleteyeah you get every one, at least in the section that you have targeted (very wise in a strategic sense, you think) wipe it down and there! there's one! and it brought it's friends!
ReplyDeleteayyieee! the only more tedious than painting is cleaning up after a painter
That was sure a lot of work but I never doubted that you would get it done. Fun poem and a really good thankful too. Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteMrs G is some lucky to have you! Not so sure I'd recommend her paid help. There's nothing worse than cleaning up after contractors.
ReplyDeleteLulu: "Our Dada says he feels sorry for whoever might have to clean up our house to make it ready for new occupants ... Hey, Dada, what?! We're not moving, are we? Oh good, he was just making an observation."
ReplyDeleteYou go above and beyond for all your clients. I hope you get a bonus for all that. XO
ReplyDeleteThat was one very big and difficult job you had to do. Glad Sweetie could help you. Our Mom knows the day is coming when she and Dad will need to downsize (she wants to do it now) so she keeps slowly weeding out the years and years of saved items all the while trying to keep those storage areas clean. It can be a monumental task.
ReplyDeleteWe enjoyed your poem.
Woos - Misty and Timber
Gosh, I feel tired just reading about that cleaning job. Well done, you!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy reading your Sixes - totally delightful.
ReplyDeleteI don't envy you that cleaning job, I don't even like cleaning my own mess! Picture/poem - perfect!
ReplyDeleteWell done, Ms G! All that clean... wow.
ReplyDeleteHappy Feline Friday! Have a wonderful weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteMay that house ready job be the last of its kind!
ReplyDeletePoem/photo precious. Yes, if only they could talk at that age, lol
Amen! to your thankful.
#RememberMeThursday. An excellent reminder. There are so many animals waiting to be loved who will love you back in a way that is indescribable.
Ouchie on that cleaning job.....a lot of work! Your poem for that poor baby who obviously wasn't appreciative of Mom's choice for breakfast was PERFECT. Besides, a big old steak is good any time AT ALL but especially in exchange for some yucky pinky stuff on a spoon!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Pam and Teddy too
Bravo to you for getting the house clean ~ great poem and story and lovely fence photos too ~ hugs,
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,
